Rev. Dr. Mark Crist
Rev. Dr. Mark Crist was called into the ministry about 26 years ago while attending the First United Methodist Church of Holdrege, when he was employed at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Before entering ministry, he was a newspaper reporter and editor, before working as community relations at Memorial Homes.
Since entering ministry in 1997, he has pastored United Methodist congregations in Atlanta (NE), Ragan (NE), Sargent-Comstock (NE), Pawnee City-DuBois (NE), Tecumseh-Sterling (NE), Chadron (NE), Wahoo (NE), and Plainview-Crawford Valley (NE).
Pastor Mark received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver. And his Master’s of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees were earned from Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City in 2007 and 2014, respectively. He has a specialization in town and country ministries when he earned his M.Div., and his doctorate is in Children and Poverty in a Globalized World.
Pastor Mark was ordained an elder in the United Methodist Church in 2009 and he is a member of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference. He enjoys bicycling, fitness work, cooking, golf, reading, and spending time with family.
Director of Children and Youth Ministries
Candance is the Director of Faith Formation. After moving to Nebraska in 2008, her family began attending Holdrege FUMC. She helped start the Wednesday after school program, Kids ROCK. In November of 2009, Candance was hired for her current position. She loves working with the kids and families and finding fun ways to teach God's word.
She and her husband Ryan have been married for 25 years and have three (almost) adult children.
